Gifts

We are fully aware that coming to our wedding in Germany is a huge time and monetary commitment. We feel so lucky that you will be joining us on our special day. We really don’t expect any gift, you being there is more special than any present. But since we know some of you are not going to listen to that, we just want to let you know that gift giving is a bit complicated from the US to Germany. If you bring a physical present on the plane, that will work, however, if you ship us a present from the US, we will get taxed on it. If you write us a check with both of our names on it, we won’t be able to deposit it in the US as we don’t have a shared account there. We do have a joint account in Germany, but cashing a US check at a German account is also quite tricky. Considering the previous complications, we would suggest one of the following options:

Paypal
Requires you to have a Paypal account to send money, but otherwise it’s easy. Please view this video for more explanation. The email addresses that you can use are the following: Use arhammond@gmail.com if you want to deposit US Dollars into a US account. If you prefer that we get Euros, please use info@plasticitydesign.com. More info

American Express Gift Card
If it feels easier to get AmEx gifts cards, this could also be an option. Not sure that these will work very well in Germany, but the good thing is that they never expire. More info

Honeymoon Registry
There is no better gift, than a gift of experiences! We are so excited to go on our honeymoon…we put together a wish list of things we could do there. More info

For a couple of years we’ve lived in sin,
we have a toaster, a kettle and a stainless steel bin,
saucepans and towels we have many
corkscrews and flannels we don’t need any,
we just want you with us to celebrate our day,
but if you insist on a gift anyway,
what we’d really like is a gift of money,
we hope you don’t think we’re being funny!
We’ll put it all together and buy something that’s best,
as a reminder of our day and our wonderful guests!
